Nothing feeds the soul quite like some classic R&B, and Austin’s own The Nightowls have made it their mission to see that no one goes hungry.

The Nightowls consist of frontman and Austinite Ryan Harkrider, a three-piece horn section (sax, trumpet, trombone), two back-up singers, guitar, keys, bass and drums.  Their sound is tight, and their stage performances are perfectly executed. Coming hot off the recent album release of Fame Sessions and the recording of a yet-to-be-released, five-track EP (recorded at Memphis’ legendary Royal Studios), The Nightowls are speeding ahead at full throttle and showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

In addition to touring nationally, the group consistently sells out venues across town, recently doing so at The Continental Club with a line outside that stretched a full block down South Congress Avenue.

With the stage still sizzling from an earlier set by Tameca Jones, The Nightowls proceeded to dish out their take on the Motown getdown.  Over the course of almost two hours, Mr. Harkrider led the group in laying down smooth melodies and tight grooves that sparked one hell of a dance party.

Austinites can check The Nightowls out at ACL-Live at The Moody Theater on Friday, January 29 where they will set the stage for Kool & the Gang.  If a more intimate setting is your jam, we suggest locking down a date and attending their Valentine's Day Al Green Tribute show at The Highball on Sunday, February 14—that dance floor doesn't stand a chance.
